Barcelona are preparing to offer up out of favour midfielder Andre Gomes as part of a player plus cash deal for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho during the upcoming transfer window, according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon.
The 25-year-old was subject to a number of bids over the summer from the La Liga giants, with reports suggesting the figures tabled were above £100m.
However, the Reds stood firm and have now slapped a £133m (€150m) price tag on their midfield maestro in order to allow the Brazilian to make the switch from Anfield to the Camp Nou.
It appears Barcelona bosses are not too keen to venture up to that eye watering figure in January, and are instead preparing an alternative package which would include Gomes going in the other direction as well as a still considerably high figure.
Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has made no attempts to hide his displeasure with the Portugal international, who was hotly tipped to join Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the previous transfer window.
The 24-year-old has managed two starts under the Spaniard so far this term, and has, in addition, amassed just 64 minutes from the substitutes' bench during his other nine appearances.
However, the Spanish press insist Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is not overly keen on adding Gomes to his squad, with the Merseysiders already strong in that portion of the pitch, despite Emre Can's ongoing contract stand-off.
It would appear the German manager could then be faced with the choice from Rafinha, Aleix Vidal or Arda Turan, who are also all facing the Camp Nou exit door, if not in January, but certainly the summer.
