Antoine Griezmann moved to Atletico Madrid in 2014 from Real Sociedad and has since become one of the deadliest finishers in world football after being crafted into a centre-forward by Diego Simeone.
The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the star man of Euro 2016 in the past, but it is another English club who Griezmann was close to joining, according to the Mirror.
That club? Fulham.
During the Cottagers' Premier League relegation battle in 2014, the club looked at the possibility of bringing in Griezmann as they searched for reinforcements.
Fulham's search for January additions saw them make an enquiry for the Frenchman to which Real Sociedad gave a quote of £12m.
For whatever reason a deal for Griezmann never materialised and Fulham turned their attention elsewhere.
That elsewhere turned out to be Kostas Mitroglou.
Mitroglou signed for Fulham in a £12m deal from Olympiacos. He made one start for the club, two sub appearances and did not manage to score a single goal as Fulham went on to be relegated.
